Necessity is the mother of invention or the grandmother of invention in this case. What
do I do with my idea and how does it turn into a product on the shelf? My
entrepreneurial spirit led me to quit my full-time job of 30 years to fulfill the great
American dream of running my own business. My idea is Flipple, a funneling adapter
that turns any bottled water product into a baby bottle. It is useful yet so simple that it
makes you say "Why didn't I think of that?"
It began when a peaceful outing on the boat turned into a frantic emergency after the baby bottles had accidently been left behind and my hungry grandson was screaming impatiently. With no place to buy a new bottle, the situation was remedied by using paper to funnel formula into bottled water but powder and formula went everywhere and my grandson was a sticky mess. The following days, I quickly got thinking of a remedy and how easy it would be to carry "this idea" instead of all the baby bottles. And as a bonus, there would be no clean up at the end of the day. So leave the baby bottles at home...on purpose!
It has been a true adventure getting Flipple to where it is today. It began with cutting, gluing and measuring at the kitchen table to get a very ugly prototype, but it worked! Witnessing how easy it was to use by my own grandson, I realized mothers really need a Flipple. The financial plunge was made and there has been no turning back. Each step of the way bigger challenges surfaced but with great tenacity, I am proud to say that Flipple fits all the standard bottled water products and is made in the USA (against all recommendations).
